It was just the start for the surfer turned artist – who now goes by the name Ithaka – a three-decade journey that would lead him to live near waves at exotic places around the world, scouring surf breaks for demolished boards to breathe new life into them. Now, the Anaheim native has returned home to Orange County to showcase his art at a show, “Reincarnation of a Surfboard,” on Friday at the Hurley headquarters in Costa Mesa.

“I think it’s kind of like returning to my roots in a way,” he said. “It’s like a homecoming.”

Like many surfers, it was love at first sight. The then-12-year-old was on a vacation in Hawaii with a friend when he first got a glimpse of surfers taking on Honolua Bay, where guys were getting barreled under 6-foot waves.

Boas pessoal, voltando ao Hip Hop / Rap tuga, ano 1995... Mais um álbum "tuga", que não tinha partilhado no primeiro blog "As Nossas Raizes", mas que também faz parte da discografia "Hip Hop Tuga", mesmo se o cantor é americano, e rima sempre em inglês, esta álbum foi o primeiro do rapper "Ithaka", lançado em Portual, conta com as participações dos pioneiros porutgueses "Lince" & "General D", são as duas faixas em que se pode ouvir rimas em português, uma bonita mistura da lingua portuguesa com a lingua inglesa, também conta com a participação da cantora portuguesa "Marta". BIOGRAFIA — Ithaka Darin Pappas, mais conhecido simplesmente como, Ithaka (leia-se Ítaca), viveu e gravou em Lisboa, de 1992 a 1998, "Darin Pappas", é um americano artista plástico, (escultor, pintor), fotógrafo, compositor, vocalista, artista de hip hop, escritor, poeta, produtor musical e surfista de ascendência grega parcial. Ithaka nasceu e foi criado no Sul da Califórnia, mas mais tarde estabeleceu-se em Japão, Grécia, Portugal, Brasil e México. O artista reside atualmente em Califórnia. Em Lisboa gravou seus dois primeiros álbuns de hip hop, "Flowers And The Color Of Paint" e "Stellafly". Sua canção, "Escape From The City Of Angels" apareceu na trilha sonora para a Columbia Pictures The Replacement Killers (Assassinos Substitutos). Ele também foi o compositor / vocalista do o a cappella poema "So Get Up" que a pista de dança So Get Up por Underground Sound of Lisbon foi baseado e além disso por o duo alemão de Trance, Cosmic Gate. Em 2004, no Brasil, gravou a faixa "Who's The Enemy" (com Gabriel o Pensador), em 1993 em Portugal, também lançou o single "So Get Up".
