"Umbilicus" a photographic project
by contemporary artist Ithaka Darin Pappas
that was published on the cover
of the cutting-edge arts magazine Speak (USA) in 1996
as featured (photo) in the 2012 book release
"Stop, Think, Go, Do: How Typography
and Graphic Design Influence Behavior"

Ithaka's original project, Umbilicus,
is a collection of approximately two-hundred
black and white navel photographs
created on the streets of Tokyo in 1991.
The series was later exhibited
at the Institute Of Juventude in Lisbon
(IPJ - INSTITUTO PORTUGUÊS DA JUVENTUDE)
and published in the Japanese
edition of the quarterly
photography journal Deja-Vu.
